After being dropped off at the shelter with no explanation, the rescue posted a photo of the two Pitbulls hunched up in the corner holding onto one another – catching the attention of one concerned foster mom.
Two is better than one
The two dogs, Bridget and Louie, were picked up by their foster mom and dad right after they saw the photo. The two dogs just seemed so broken and looked as if they needed to learn what love felt like.
Louie, the smaller black dog, was timid and scared as he lay under Bridget. Bridget, on the other hand, stood up tall and kept an eye on her best buddy, signaling that she was keeping him safe.
The two dogs were brought to their new temporary home. Bridget’s immediate response was to hop right up the couch, wagging her tail excitedly and making herself comfortable. She looked as though she was finally able to relax for the first time.
The two dogs were not used to being in a home. Their owner taught them different commands, such as telling them to sit and crate training the two as they learned their way around the house. Louie did not want to get separated from Bridget, so they stayed in one crate.
After a while, the two began to open up and were introduced to the other dogs in the house. It seemed as though they were way more excited to meet the dogs and instantly connected with them. They would love to go outside and play all day long.
Even so, the two were still completely attached. Wherever Bridget was, Louie would be there as well.
Soon, their foster mom decided that they were ready to be adopted. The two needed to stay together.
When Monica reached out, she said she was following the story of the two Pitbulls the moment when she saw the photo of them cuddling at the shelter.
The couple who fostered the dogs packed their bags and drove the two animals from Houston to San Diego. It was a bittersweet ride because it was never easy for fosters to let go of the dogs they took care of.
When they got to Monica’s home, it felt like the dogs were in good hands. Monica took good care of Bridget and Louie and would often make updates about her two dogs.
Louie became more energetic while Bridget still loves to lie on the couch. At the end of the day, the two best buddies still prefer to stay with one another.
